Interpedia

Interpedia

Interpedia is an expert non-governmental organisation working for child rights and protection in an international setting.

Interpedia

The goal of Interpedia’s work is to advance child rights according to the UN Declaration and Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our vision is that children’s rights to stable development and a safe environment to grow up in are realized for as many children as possible.

Interpedia was founded in 1974 by adoptive parents as a non-profit, politically and religiously non-aligned Finnish civil society organization. Today Interpedia is a recognized NGO working in intercountry adoptions and development cooperation.

Intercountry adoptions

Through intercountry adoptions, Interpedia helps to find new families in Finland for children who cannot be placed in adoption in their native country. Interpedia is a member of EurAdopt and Nordic Adoption Council. International adoption work is based on the Hague Convention on protection of children and co-operation in respect of intercountry adoption, and the ethical rules of EurAdopt and the Nordic Adoption Council.

Development cooperation

Through development co-operation and sponsorship programs, Interpedia aims at enhancing the right to education, protection and an adequate standard of living for children in seven partner countries. Interpedia’s development co-operation work consists of development cooperation projects funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and sponsorship programmes financed through donations, as well as global education in Finland.
